Technical Information

1
Crosscontact sole
The design of the soles has been the subject of extensive research in our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. The design of the sole of the Forclaz 500 Helium will offer more traction than grip.Traction: Consists of not sliding into loose ground (flat or hilly). Adhesion: consists of not slipping when on hard ground (wet or dry).

Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
3
What size to choose?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to avoid your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tied to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.

Awesome product. I love the shoes. read the description above. It says that "take the size above your usual shoe size". My size is 8 so I ordered 8.5 and it fit well and looks very good. I am really happy to buy it.

People say that it is heavy but I don't agree with it. It is light weight in comparative terms. If you compare it with other hiking shoes and not running shoes, then these are far lighter than them.
Grip, No worrying about the lace, light weight
Packaging
Comfortable and great value

Used for 3 to 6 months
I bought these over a pair of boots as they are more suited to the type of walking that I am doing. On the foot they feel like a beefy trail running shoe, as you might expect.

I've yet to give them a serious test but after a couple of months of use they still look virtually brand new so I expect them to be tough.

The lacing system is secure and they are pretty weatherproof, despite not having a waterproof membrane. As a result they can get quite warm.
Lightweight (compared to boot), durable.

Tested on a wet and dry terrain
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I have tested this shoes in a forest and grass terrain. I have tested them in a 2 hours rain and they stay dry inside even after walking in a wet grass, even withot gaiters. Very comfortable inside but a little heavier. I guess it is because of the crosscontact sole. The sole works very well on dry and wet mud ot dry rock but it starting to slip on a wet rock.
Stay dry inside, very comfortable
a little heavier, but with very good drip
Sizing a bit off

Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Previously wore an older pair of this type of shoe from Decathlon so when they nearing the end of their useful lifespan I automatically went back for another pair. These were the closest to what I previously wore and the exact same size. The right shoe felt a bit tight around the toe area on trying them on, but I purchased them anyway assuming they would maybe stretch slightly with a bit of time. Unfortunately they havent. My previous pair had ample space and were the exact same size. Never had issues with different size feet before!
Sturdy shoe, quick tie laces
Right shoe size slightly small

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback on the Helium hiking shoes. I apologise for the discomfort caused from the pair you have recently purchased. I am certain we can exchange the model for you for another pair so see if it rectifies the problem, failing that we can look at a different model. Either drop into your local store or get in touch with our customer loyalty team online.

Thanks again

Used these on a recent trip to Arizona and Utah, hiking across some of the National Parks. Did exactly what i wanted them to do: hiking on uneven paths, climbing the odd bolder and a bit of minor climbing.
Comfortable, tough,
