Rear wheel play/noise/friction
Used for 3 to 6 months
It looks like I also am having issues with my rear wheel - When changing the tyre it occured to me that their is friction in the hub/a noise like their something wrong there. I have just had my free service so am suprised that this was not checked. The smooth ride that I initially had has become more chalenging now. I use the bike to travel to work each day, around 5 miles so this is not excesssive use and I was hoping that the wheels would last longer! HAppy with everything else but too short for the wheel to have issues already..

Response of the brand
Dear Sir,
I appreciate that a poorly functioning rear wheel is extremely frustrating. If you problems persist, your local Decathlon store can offer an upgrade to a better wheel which will eliminate any future issues. Please contact them to get this sported as quickly as possible.

Costantly servicing hubs front and rear
Used for 3 to 6 months
I commute 90 miles a week. I'm servicing the hubs every 2 weeks. The wheels are weak they buckle easily. If you. Up the bike upgrade immediately
Won't last or take any abuse
Response of the brand
Dear Sir,
I agree with you that for regular commuting it is definitely worth upgrading the wheels.
Your local store can help you with any upgrade needs.  A mavic Aksium one or the b'twin allround 700 wheel with sealed bearings may be a good upgrade.
Thankfully a revised version is due with a big step forward in the quality of the hubs in particular.

Allergic to water
Used for More than 1 year
As per other reviews, the wheel can't deal with water, and the spokes seem to mysteriously loosen & snap. That said, I've probably managed considerably more milage than the other reviewers, and the front wheel has been flawless in that time.

I've had a Triban 3 for a year, and have probably managed 3000 miles on it. However, for most of its life I've had to repeatedly take the wheel apart re-grease and replace all the bearings, approximately every 2-3 months. The freehub lasted about 6 months before suddenly seizing; with help from a mechanic I've flushed out the rust with WD40, then re-greased it, but it's now at a point of being unusable again, and my local store (Southampton) has told me the replacement freehub is no longer in stock.
Light & bearings run nicely for a cheap wheel
Can't deal with water, no replacement parts
Response of the brand
Dear sir,
I share your frustration regarding this rear wheel.
New replacement wheels are available:
Southampton has 4 of them in stock.

Wheels on Triban 500
Used for 3 to 6 months
Purchased a Triban 500 in August 2014 and within a few weeks found the wheels out of true and loose spokes. Had these tightened and wheels trued to then have serious grinding in the rear hub after 5 months. Water has got into the bearings as there was insufficient grease and poor seals and has corroded the bearings and damaged the bearing cup. Not happy to replace like for like as have no confidence in these wheels and Oxford store will only offer me upgraded wheels at the current sale price with notihing in compensation for my damaged wheel. Real pity as I love the bike but not the wheels.
Loose spokes and awful bearing seals
Response of the brand
Dear Sir,
I have contacted the oxford store who tell me that they have ordered in some upgraded wheels for you.  It is disappointing to read that we were not able to pick this issue up during you free 3 month checkup.
I gather they have found a solution for you.
New batches of wheels on the Triban range have been improved in particular the quality of the seals on the hubs.
A new wheel is being costed up by b'Twin for future ranges which will add more to the price of the bike but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Keep it dry
Used for 7 to 12 months
I use this as a wet weather bike. After a wet ride the freewheel siezed, I managed to free it but I need a replacement wheel that I can't seem to get. Out of stock.
Rest of the bike is good
Siezed after wet ride
Response of the brand
Dear Sir,
We can get a new wheel sent out to you through our workshops.
I will be in touch with you directly to arrange this with you.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Rear Wheel for Triban 3
Used for 1 week or less
I have now bought 2 since my Triban was new, basic components but does trick for general cheap cost. Would like it if Decathlon would just renew bearings? as wheel in good conditions. They do not like the wet and will seize up if not lubed often enough, as seals limited, I would pay a bit more if sealed units? but standard Ball bearings? However silent rolling? I have since had to buy a front wheel for same reason?
Good price and lasts for12 months and 800Miles
Does'nt come with Tube Guard band any more?
Rear Wheel
Used for 7 to 12 months
I have had my Triban 3 for around three years and it has given me great service covering a few thousand miles but the rear wheel was badly out of shape. I've cycled less than 300 miles on it's replacement and its completely out of shape. I noticed that a lot of the spokes were very loose (one almost completely out of it's base) which is probably the reason it's now useless. i was expecting a few thousand miles service not a few hundred! Such a shame as I've had nothing but praise for the complete bike!
Response of the brand
Dear Peter,
Thanks for your mail. We are pleased that you like the bike, and sorry to hear of the issues that you have encountered with the wheel. We have had many customers ride many thousands of miles on this model without any issues, so it appears that there is a fault with your wheels.
All our products are covered by a 2 year guarantee, so if you could bring the wheel into one of our stores, we would be happy to exchange it for you.
Apologies for the issue once again.

Rubbish for wet weather!
Used for 3 to 6 months
Had this on my Triban 300 (great bike) for nearly 3 months now, I commute to work so the weather changes all the time. Arriving home from a wet ride, grinding / friction sounds started to develop in the freehub and now the wheel does not come to a smooth stop. I've had a look myself and it's definitely the free hub. Please could I get a replacement and I will change it myself. I can only go to Decathlon during the weekends and the last time I was there the cue was nearly 30 persons deep waiting for the workshop to sort their bikes out.
The rest of the bike
Cannot handle water or rain
Response of the brand
Dear Sir,
I'm sorry to read that you've encountered difficulties with your rear hub.
I will forward your feedback onto the product manager at b'Twin.
Please email me your address and I will arrange for a new wheel to be sent out to you.

Poorly engineered hub
Used for More than 1 year
The first hub went wrong after just under a year and I was able to get a wheel replacement that was covered by warranty (after being accused of riding it too often). Since then I have been riding it for about 10 miles a week and it has failed again after less than 6 months. I am very disappointed with the quality of the wheel hub and will not be satisfied with a replacement of the same wheel. This appears to be a recurring issue that other people have also experienced so I would like to know what the company is planning to do to resolve this issue?
Everything except from the hub is great
The hub keeps breaking
Response of the brand
Dear sir,
I'm sorry to read that you have experienced recurring issues with this product.  Other customers have said the same.
I have forwarded all these comments onto our product managers at b'Twin who deal with wheels over the last 12 months and the current and future batches of wheels have been worked on to increase lifespan and reliability.  Based on recent purchases and the significant drop in negative feedback I can only assume that the corrective actions have helped. Hub quality has improved as well as the seals which will prevent water from entering the hub.
Nevertheless, I will forward your recent review onto our product mangers.
I'm sorry that you've had so many issues.  All I can suggest is either a full refund or exchange for a new wheel.

It's true this is the third wheel. They cannot cope in the wet. I had one wheel only 2 months before the bearings gave up. Decathlon tried to blame me! despite me maintaining it.
Hmmmm...let me think.
In 8 months I'm on my third wheel.
Response of the brand
Hello,I'm sorry to read that you have had recurring issues with your wheel.I'm inclined to agree with you that the wheel does not cope well enough with wet weather. I have forwarded you comments onto the product manager at b'Twin.I will email you directly to help find a more long term solution to make sure that you no longer have to worry about your wheels.Regards,Peter Lazarus UK Market Manager - Decathlon
