We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed as a water column of mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the greater the waterproof properties of the fabric. Components scoring 2000mm can resist the pressure from 2000mm of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting one hour). Waterproofing is expressed in schmerbers (for example: 2000 schmerbers).
To find out whether a component is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity is evaporated, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / >20 = little or no breathability.
Water repellent component:
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. Fabric is made water repellent by applying a treatment to the outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (with every 2 or 3 washes). Water repellent treatment products are available in our stores. All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
Coating applied to the fabric makes it waterproof and windproof. Waterproof fabric has the necessary technical characteristics to be considered windproof. Protection from the wind is critical, as whether playing sports or at rest, wind can chill the body significantly.

A score to help compare products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is given to help you identify products with the best environmental performance more readily by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental impact. For more information visit http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

Our teams of young testers in the Mont Blanc region.
All our garments are field-tested by users representative of our target market. In particular, our long-duration field tests with children from the Mont Blanc region allow us to continually develop and improve our products.
Store in its pocket or on a hanger in a clean, dry place.
1. Machine wash at 40°C: fasten riptabs, wash inside-out. Loosen straps and elastics. 2. Avoid folding the garment in the washing machine, as this can damage it. 3. Do not use bleach. 4. Select a long rinse cycle and a gentle spin cycle. 5. Air dry (do not tumble dry). 6. Do not iron. 7. Do not dry clean.
