Tested in laboratory and in use, these shoes, equipped with a Waterproof membrane, will ensure optimal impermeability and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, they are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing.
In the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing:
2000 flexions (approx. 4 km walk), 4000 flexions (approx. 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approx. 16 km walk).
Of course, after this test, and during use, the shoe regains its original water resistance once dry.
Footwear waterproofing rating.
The TREK 100 shoe has been tested and validated for 8000 flexions, equivalent to a 16 km walk, in water reaching the middle of the upper.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements:
- secure attachment of eyelets and hooks
- sole assembly
- UV resistance
- abrasion of the sole and upper components
- accelerated ageing.
Try on both shoes, standing up, with socks worn for hiking.
Try several models and sizes if necessary.
Check two comfort points: the heel seating (the heel does not or hardly slips) and the front of the foot on a downward slope (the toes do not touch the front of the shoe).
Avoid any pressure points when fitting.
Don't hesitate to walk around the store.
Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
Use a brush to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to retain the nubuck's original appearance.
The use of nourishing cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. While it will not damage the leather as such, it will change the appearance of your shoes.
Store away from moisture in a ventilated room.
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team the product manager up with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve and validate our products.
