Technical Information

Standard dome assembly: set-up of the poles with the bedroom, then subsequent fastening of the double roof above the rest. Reverse procedure when dismantling.
1 high rear ventilation point, space between the flysheet and the floor all around the tent: to allow the air to circulate between the sleeping area and the flysheet, to refresh the air and limit as much as possible the natural phenomenon of condensation.
Protection from the sun
The fabric flysheet filters UV rays with a SPF of 30. Please note: a large amount of UV can pass through a simple open door: protect your skin.
All Quechua tents are laboratory tested (entire tent under 200 L/sqm/h for 4 hours) as well as field tested. (Polyester 2000mm PU-coated flysheet, polyethylene groundsheet 120 g/m², all seams sealed with heat-bonded strips). The presence of a breathable polyester sleeping area under the flysheet prevents contact with the condensation water droplets that can settle on the inside of the flysheet.
Wind resistance
We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable to expose each side of the tent to the wind. A well-assembled tent with all the guy ropes properly deployed around the tent should remain habitable with a wind speed measured at 40 km/h near the ground (Force 5).

Maintenance tips
1 CLEANING - if necessary, the tent can be cleaned with soapy water followed by a rinse (hose possible). Then needs to be dried fully. 2 RESIN MARKS - …very difficult to remove: once dry, scratch it (delicately) while putting an ice cube inside to make it brittle and easier to detach. 3 STORAGE - after use, or cleaning, store tent only when completely dry to prevent odour and mould growth.

The review might go a little long. I was looking for a four person tent for my hikes but during my visit to Decathlon, this one was available. We were three on a trek to Lam Dal Lake in mighty Dhauladhar mountain range located in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh (India). As we were already with heavy rucksacks, so we decided to distribute the tent among all three by dividing outer, inner & sticks. As the claimed weight of this tent is 3kg, therefore for a single person, it was not that easy to carry it with that amount of baggage. In first day of our trek, the tent remained un-opened as we got shelter somewhere. Next day our trek was through Gaj Pass and then to Lam Dal Lake but we were caught in heavy rain and it took 4 hours to stop. After then we resumed out trek and crossed the pass in dark at 09:30 PM. Due to dark, it was not so easy to find out the way and wandering here and there, we reached at 11:30 PM beside the lake. We pitched the tent for first time and as we entered in, the rain started and in 5-10 minutes, it turned heavy. The tent was sufficient for three with respective baggage. I was worried about the rain, as tent was pitched on a little tilted ground. My companion friend asked me, “is it able to face such rain and will it keep us safe?” I replied, “let us see the result”. As we were too tired, soon we were in deep sleep. In the morning when we woke up, the rain was stopped and it was all fine inside. We slept well and everything inside was almost dry (95%). We packed everything and moved on to Kareri lake via Minkiani Pass which is next to Gaj Pass in the same mountain range. After reaching Kareri lake, we pitched it again and everything was good but during midnight, heavy rain started again. But this time I was quite confident about the capability of tent. Next morning everything was good. You just need to make it little dry before packing it. Don’t pack it in wet condition. Next morning, the Sun welcomed us and we got sufficient time to make it dry under Sun. We removed the outer and gently placed it on a dry boulder and left the inner in assembled position under heat of Sun. After a while it was dry enough to pack. Overall, it is a good, reliable and I must say “tough” product. In some cases, it is even sufficient for four person. But in such condition, the baggage needs to be placed wisely.
