Breaking in the pads: must be done before setting out on a ride.
You will need to do several short, dry stops on a flat surface without obstacles.3 or 4 sets of 10 dry, intermittent stops will be enough to break in your brake pads.Dry braking will very slightly wear the pad.Allow several seconds between each set of braking to allow your brakes to lower in temperature before carrying out another series of 10 presses on the brakes.
Be careful not to glaze the brakes
Continuous braking or not braking hard enough may glaze you brake pad. Instead of crumbling away, your brake pad will melt. A thin layer of silica and melted metal will then be visible on the upper part of your brake pad, making it less effective. If this happens, don't throw away your brake pads, they are still usable. Several short, sharp presses on the brakes will wear away the glazed layer and restore your brake pads.
If the problem persists even after several short, dry braking attempts, use some sandpaper to slightly rub your brake pads.
