What criteria must a cap meet in order to qualify as "UV protective"?
UV protection regulations for hats and caps are very specific: The fabric must obviously be UV protective (UPF above 40) but that isn't sufficient to claim that the finished product is UV protective. The headwear also needs to protect the back of the neck and there must be no visible openwork fabric through which the sun's rays can penetrate. The Trek 900 cap meets these requirements so you can go hiking with complete peace of mind: you are perfectly protected!
How do you measure a fabric's quick dry capacity?
The product is machine-washed 3 times and line-dried; it is then immersed in water in order to measure the time taken for the product to return to its original pre-washed weight. This cap scored an impressive 5 out of 5 stars, returning its pre-washed weight in under 80 minutes!
