I bought this to replace a pop up type tent that leaked badly when I used it last. I decided to go for this version as I liked the idea of blackout fabric and that it was meant to be cooler.
Just used it for 4 days in extreme sun/heat and thunderstorms! It was easy to set up. The tent stayed up when others were blown away! It stayed dry inside and I loved the fact I wasn’t woken up too early by sunlight coming in. Great idea!
My only criticism would be that you can’t avoid rainwater getting in when you open the tent as there’s no porch type cover and there’s no way to fasten the ‘doors’ open but for the price it’s a great tent!
Bought two of these for our kids who’ve grown out of sleeping in the Campervan with us. Used them last weekend when it was 27c with constant sunshine and they stayed cool and dark. Also pretty easy to put up and a lot easier to put down than pop ups we originally got elsewhere. Can’t comment (yet) on how they bear up in cold and wet weather.
Can you carry this tent and the equipment to assemble it in a cabin bag on a plane?
Do the airlines allow such equipment on a cabin bag in a plane?
Will I need to have a camping mallet to assemble this tent?
Looking forwards to your response.
My hunt for a good tent ends here. Went camping with my friend, the space is great, kept the promise as said by the store people that it will be cooler and dark even in the morning. It did! 5 stars for it!
+ Dark interior - wow, what a nice feature
+ Hanger hook for a light
+ Guylines included
+ Quiet Zipper toggles
+ Sturdy Floor
+ Strong tent stakes
- A little too short! I'm only 175 cm and the walls touch my feet and head when laying down.
- Squeaky rain fly! This rubs against the poles and keeps you awake. Do yourself a favor and make 2 cloth sleeves to fit over the poles (350cm x 3.5cm)
- No vestibule. Would have been easy to include and could enable 2 ppl to camp with gear. Oh well.. maybe in the next version.
Haven't tried in the rain yet. It has held up very well in wind so far.
Fantastic little tent overall! Spacious for one but a bit cosy for two with kit. Quick and easy to pitch. We use 3 of them inside a large tent for our 3 kids so they each have their own pod/zone. The blackout was the main feature we bought them for and it is totally dark which helps sleep immensely and fun to use torches for bedtime stories even at 8pm in mid summer. Best addition to our camping experience since our gas fridge!
I took this tent with me to Tanzania for 11 days of camping in various national parks and conservation areas (Serengeti, NgoroNgoro crater). It took it all well even when hyena and wild pigs came sniffing the tent at night, it is easy and quick to put up and take down which was useful, the black out I didn't think worked as good as it was decribed, it was dark to the point of needing a torch to see things clearly during the day, but you could manage with what natural light did actually get in. The tent also felt cooler than other tents during the day, but only slightly.
I purchased this tent before i did a trek in Snowdonia. i previously owed a 1 man coffin tent but found it unpractical when trying to change in the rain! This tent isnt the lightest on the market but by far the best value for money. They have a black out liner which even the boys expensive dont have.
