Technical Information

1
Crosscontact sole
The sole design is the product of a lengthy research and development process conducted in our laboratories, combined with a special rubber formulation to optimise grip and traction. As requirements are not the same, we automatically look for the best compromise to develop on both soft and dry terrain.
2
Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: these boots, which have been tested in the laboratory and the field, have a breathable, waterproof membrane for optimum protection in the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3
Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 16 hours of walking). Naturally, after this test or in use, the boot regains its original waterproofing once dry.The MH100 Mid waterproof boot passed the test involving 4000 flexes.
4
Prolonging waterproofness
A boot's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing waterproof gaiters or mini-gaiters to protect the top part of the boots and prevent water, pebbles, sand, etc. from getting inside. To restore the original water repellent properties and prevent staining the outer surface, spray with a waterproof spray several times per year.

Buying tips
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: keep your nails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding towards the front of the boot.
6
What boot size should I choose?
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tightened to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.

Good running boots
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought these for a winter high fells run, dry warm feet being more of a priority than speed, ran about 25 trail miles in them prior to the race and had no problems, did the race 15 miles and my feet were warm and dry through out, conditions were good for the time of year but everyone else had wet feet, they are about 150 grams heavier than my trail shoes so no great weight penalty
Poor cushioning
Used for 7 to 12 months
This shoes has poor cushioning , I took it to day trek and when I was descending back to base my feet were aching so much , quechua please provide good cushioning in trekking shoes apart from that it's waterproof , used it in snow various times , it's warm and provides good ankle support.. but definitely NOT COMFORTABLE FOR LONGER TREKS .
Non Waterproof and Very Slippery on Wet Surfaces
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Dear Team, Decathalon is the first word that comes to my mind when I think of outdoor sports. Undoubtedly for my trekking expedition I turned to Decathlon to buy all my trekking gears. I am highly satisfied with most of your products that I have purchased but I am not with this shoes. Undoubtedly a shoes can make or mar your trek. I used if for just a single day and with even small level of rains my feet was feeling the wetness. Adding more to the agony was that its very very slippery on wet trails. I almost had to sit completely many times while ascending from the trail. I was lucky that I had the trek leader with while crossing a ridge else this slippery shoes could have been fatal for me. My both toe thumbs have got serious internal injuries due to constant slipping on the trail. I was thankful to the trekking company that I had the alternate of renting the shoes which saved my trek. Kindly take back this shoes and initiate my refund. I would recommend Decathalon but not this shoe for hiking on any trail.

Great value
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I wont be spending £100+ on Salomon shoes anymore when these do the job. Perfect for once a week trekking with the dog on the South Downs.
not waterproof
Used for More than 1 year
Had these for over a year (they need replaced) daily use, slightly waterproof for the first two weeks, now suck water like a sponge, stink and are for the bin. Apart from that comfortable boots, great in summer, terrible in winter NOT waterproof at all, you'll be squelching all the way home!!
Happy
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Was bought for my husband, he was happy with the fit, we walked for some distance when first worn with no problems.
Great waterproof boots
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Fabulous fit, very comfortable and look ace. These boots served me well on a days walking in torrential rain and gale force winds up Kinder Scout. Feet stayed nice and dry, no blisters and were comfortable and light whilst scrambling over rocks and peat bog.
Painful
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
After 3wks the boots are finally OK to walk in !! Terrible blisters & a huge amount spent on blister plasters & padded stick on pads due to a ridge across the heel/achilles area. I walk approx 35-40 miles pwk & its been very painful. Have not had this problem with other boot manufacturers & not certai whether I will purchase this style again - will see how it goes over next 6mths & see if there is anymore "challenges" with the boots. Today was the 1st pain free walk in 3wks!!
