Based on tests on perceived cold conducted in the field and in the lab involving a panel of users, we measure the thermal insulation of our boots when stationary (static) and when moving (dynamic). It is now possible to give a precise temperature rating down to which your boots will protect you. Comfort temperature ratings are indicated on your boots. We take into account the differences in the perception of cold between men and women.
Footwear waterproofing test.
Tested in the laboratory, the shoes give you an optimal impermeability. The boots are initially immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check for bubbles on the surface of the boot. Then they are placed on a mechanical arm simulating walking, half immersed in water. We then check if the inside of the boot remains perfectly dry. These laboratory tests are supplemented with wear and ageing tests conducted in the field.
3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, with 2000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 4 km walk), 4000 flexes (approx. equivalent to an 8 km walk) and 8000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 16 km walk).
Level of impermeability of the shoe.
This boot model has undergone a test involving up to 2000 flexes, which is equivalent to 4 km of walking.
The SNOWCONTACT soles are designed using a specific component and a lug pattern that is designed to provide the best possible grip and traction. SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow. When used on ice, optimum safety can only be ensured by adding non-slip grips.
This boot has been tested on the field in climatic conditions adapted to its use by hikers accompanied by the product manager. In particular, we analyse the technical features of the boot to validate the product in relation to its specifications and the reviews that you send us.
Our engineers conduct laboratory tests to fully guarantee your satisfaction in use. Among other things, we validate the following elements: strength of eyelets and straps, strength of glued assemblies, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the sole and upper components and accelerated ageing.
