I practice Iyengar yoga and the mat is great overall. You may want additional padding for laying down though as the mat is thin. I chose it for its lightness and I like the rubber feel which also ensure a good grip during asanas.
I bought this product after seeing someone else use one. She seemed very happy with the product.
Initially buying the product I was happy. It was slightly heavier than I thought, but rolled up nice and tight making it easy to travel with- which is exactly what I wanted it for.
Since buying the mat I have used it 7 times and have noticed the following.
- It's easy to carry and rolls up nice and small.
- It's a good length.
- Relatively cheap.
- It becomes very slippery when your hands sweat. Not great for stronger practices such as Ashtanga.
- Since using it I have already noticed micro-tears on the mat. If it was an old mat I'd understand, but after only using it a handful of times I am very disappointed at how quickly it is damaged.
Dear Ms Neri,
I am really sorry to hear about your experience regarding the 1.5 MM Yoga travel mat. This mat is made out of rubber and it is one of our mats with the highest grip and normally it should not be slippery, that is why I will inform our product engineer regarding to investigate your situation and see what is to be done in the future.
Meanwhile, I advise you to go to your nearest Decathlon store and exchange your mat with a new one to see if you have again the same issue. If you do not want to exchange it than you can ask our team for a refund.
Thank you and I wish you a pleasant day!

My usual mat is an xtralong manduka pro mat so I cant carry it around. Was looking for one I can bring with me when travelling and doesnt break easily. It has a strong rubbery smell in the beginning so make sure to air it out. I love that i can just pop it into washing machine to clean and folds easily in my travel bag. Not much support really as its just 1.5mm but its great for balance and inversion poses. I sweat alot and its not that slippery for me. I use both sides depending how much traction i want. So far no signs of wear and tear. Definitely recommend it!
This mat is a little longer than most, I'm 5'10 and it's plenty big enough. I like the thinness of it compared to normal mats. It's very grippy too and rolls up much more compact than a normal mat. Also comes with a little carry cord, and also some other cord bit with disks of the material in each end which I've no idea what they are for. It's a bit heavier than a normal mat but that doesn't bother me. Defiantly recommend!
