Technical Information

Fill Power of the down/feather filling
For this down jacket filled with a 75/25 mix, the fill power of the down/feathers is guaranteed to be greater than or equal to 540 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. So, the more loft the down has (i.e. the higher the CUIN number), the more space it will occupy and the more air it will trap, thereby providing greater thermal insulation.
The advantages of a duck down and feather filling (for the back and front of the down jacket)
The down's long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra-low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same level of insulation. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible
Feather origin
Thanks to our traceability system, we can guarantee the origin of the feathers, which are sourced in accordance with our responsible material commitments. Our suppliers are committed to using only feathers that come from ducks that are bred for their meat and which are plucked after slaughtering.http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/documents-et-rapports/documents/
The advantages of synthetic filling (for the arms, sides and hood)
Synthetic filling (wadding) is an effective alternative to feathers: - it provides good thermal insulation even when wet - it provides some breathability and is recommended for sports activities (down is recommended for static or moderate activity)
Care instructions for a jacket filled with down and feathers
Down jackets can be worn all year round and will certainly need to be washed. Follow the instructions by clicking the link below: http://www.quechua.com/wash-your-down-jacket
In the event of rain
This down jacket fabric is water-repellent. This fabric treatment makes drops of water run off its surface, so that it takes longer for the water to get inside the jacket, giving you the time to find some shelter. But the down jacket is not waterproof. We therefore recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over your down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.
Note regarding the lighter coloured versions
The X-Light down jacket is made with a fine fabric in order to make it lightweight and compact. Please note that the feathers are slightly visible through the fabric of the lighter coloured jackets.
A rating for comparing the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is assessed over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing them with products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. All our down jackets are laboratory tested in a 5 km/h wind, worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal dummy (over a long sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can choose the one that suits you best.

Product test
Temperature chamber test This is used to validate our design choices. We reproduce the temperature, wind and humidity conditions that you encounter in the mountains. In this way we put the thermal insulation where you most need it. Feather-proofing test We use a test machine to ensure that the feathers do not escape from your jacket during your activities. So our fabrics are "featherproofed" to ensure lasting insulation.

Stockage tips

Maintenance tips
Down jackets needed to be treated with special care. We recommend taking your down jacket to the dry cleaners. Machine wash at 30°C, add 2 tennis balls to restore the loft of the down. Rinse twice. Tumble drying highly recommended: synthetic cycle with 3 tennis balls to restore the loft of the down, Run several cycles until the down has dried completely. This will prevent the down from clumping and losing its insulating power. See the care instructions in the online guide
