| Hybrid structure | Combination of a durable and protective fabric (147g/m2; 70 denier) on areas to be protected from friction (shoulders, outer arms, front and back hem) and a light and breathable fabric (109 g/m2); 20 denier) elsewhere. Back 2 cm longer than the front to ensure maximum protection and to cover the second thermal layer underneath if necessary. |

| Front zip | Features a waterproof YKK AquaGuard zip along the entire length with an inside flap providing protection from the wind. Folded underflap on the hem to make zip fastening easier. Double slider lets you open the jacket from the bottom. Soft fabric flap at the top of the collar to protect the chin. |

| Water resistance of the fabric | We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Here are the waterproof values for the the MT500 jacket: 25,000 mm (or 25,000 Schmerbers) before washing for the lightest fabric (11,000 mm after 5 washes) 20,000 mm (or 20,000 Schmerbers) before washing for the strongest fabric (17,000 mm after 5 washes) |
| Water resistance of the jacket | The water resistance of the jacket was tested under rainfall of 450 litres of water/m²/hour for 4 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a thunderstorm in the mountains. |
| Fabric breathability | To find out if a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance RET (ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. It is considered that if:RET < 9 = very breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric Here are the breathability values for the the MT500 jacket:> Most durable fabric: RET < 12 (or 3,621 g/m²/24h, standard JIS1099A) >Lightest fabric: RET < 8 (or 2,972 g/m²/24h, standard JIS1099A) |
| Water-repellent properties information | The water-repellent property of a fabric is its ability to let water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. The water-repellent property can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use the FORCLAZ re-waterproofing spray (ref 855490) |
