Get your child to try on both boots, while standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following two pressure points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. There should be no pressure points when you try them on. Don't hesitate to get your child to walk around the store. Gradually start using your boots during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
What size should I choose?
For hiking, don't hesitate to choose a pair that is one size above your usual shoe size to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the front of the boot. Tip: keep your nails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding towards the front of the boot.
The comfort of all our boots is tested when trying them on and in use by typical users under the real-life conditions you will encounter in use. Our Mission Tests bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to validate the following elements: torn eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated ageing.
