Technical Information

Crosscontact sole
We designed the sole based on long research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. The Forclaz 500 Helium sole is designed to offer better grip than traction. Definition > Traction: prevents slipping on soft ground (muddy or dry). Grip: not slipping on hard ground (wet or dry).
EVOFIT concept
The foam inside, stretch mesh and outer design are designed to perfectly mould the shape of your foot. Combined with welded film, they guarantee good support and maximum comfort.
Purchasing and fitting advice?
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several styles or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Always walk around the store. Wear your shoes in gradually during the first hikes, to mould them to your foot.
What size should I choose?
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the boot.
Field test
All our shoes are tested for comfort and use by representative users under conditions identical to those found when in use. Our Missions Tests link the product manager up with people who are not affiliated to Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
Laboratory Testing
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to pass the following: tearing resistance of the eyelets and straps, resistance of adhesives, toxicology, UV resistance, to abrasion of the outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.

Product test
Our design team is based at the foot of Mont-Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, we create and develop products that are beautiful, simple and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field, as we remain convinced that only through rigorous testing under real world conditions, like the ones you will be using them in, can we continue to provide you with better products than ever.
