How did we make Trek 100 Jackets warm and Eco friendly?

The fabric we use reduces Co2 emission by 40% and We use dope dyed yarn which allows us to reduce 66% the fine particle emission (PM 2.5), 70% eutrophication of fresh water and 68% the eutrophication of marine waters. For warmth we make a padding of fine brushed polyester strands which creates air pockets in the jacket and these air pocket trap the air and heat it by the body warmth and keep the warm air trapped inside the jacket hence keeps you warm and comfortable which is tested in real life conditions upto -5 degrees when proper layering is done.

Durable materials
This polyamide fabric that uses 20 denier thread resists 20,000 cycles of abrasion. Martindale test, Standard 12947-2 Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 39g/sqm, 20 denier Lining: 100% polyester fabric 35g/sqm, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads
Thermal insulation
This down jacket has been certified for a comfort temperature of -6° during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The mannequin wears a synthetic long-sleeved t-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. In our heat comparison tool, it represents 2 stars.
Technical information on the wadding
We use 100% polyester wadding (25% recycled). The wadding is made from silicone-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and highly durable. Despite its low thickness, it has high insulation properties thanks to the air trapped inside, and remains lightweight. It remains warm even when wet.
Do you know why the inner lining of your down jacket is grey?
Because the fabric we use reduces CO2 emissions by 40%. The fabric used is innovative because it mixes a self-dyed black thread and an undyed thread. Compared to a classic dyeing process, this process reduces by: • 66% fine particle emissions (PM2.5) • 74% Eutrophication of fresh water • 68% eutrophication of sea water
Additional sustainable development information

Water repellent property of the component (not to be confused with the waterproofing)
The water repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water, and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. Tested by
In November 2017, 6 trekkers (4 men and 2 women) with part of the Forclaz design team tested this down jacket for four days in the Southern French Alps. We were then able to make the final modifications and validate it for use in mountain trekking.
