I went into Decathlon to try on the new Salomon Speedcross 4 and to see what else was available. I tried on all the trail shoes and found the KALENJI ELIO FEEL to be the most comfortable for me and have relatively low heel drop to help me transition away from heel striking. I am used to running in Salomon, brooks, Inov8, so was worried about buying cheapo shoes. I have since put done over 150 miles in the Kalenji and have bought another pair for when these fall apart. The shoes are showing a little ware on the soles and are holding together very well. The Elio feel drain very well after river crossings. They are very cushioned so stay wet but stop squelching underfoot almost immediately. They are pretty much a road shoe with grippy sole so are very comfortable over long distances and supportive on flat trails. The wide sole/heal becomes an issue on more technical trails where you need a narrow tight fitting shoe. I'm no longer a trainer snob. Cheap is cheerful.
Comfortable. Lowish heel drop. Flexible.
Not suitable for tech and mud (obviously)
I bought these wanting a cheap pair of trainers for kayaking.... I expected them to get wet so didn't want leather. They are comfortable and flexible. They also dry out quickly once wet. They have a good level of grip (especially when wet), and should I need a second pair, I'd buy the same again.
Good price shoe for occasional trail running
wide fit really comfortable
Good value running shoes. Good grip on loose, wet, muddy and leafy surfaces but comfortable on hard ground too. Only gripe would be the complete lack of water resistance across front of foot. Every splash gets through the mesh.
Good fit, good grip on all surfaces
Feet get wet very quickly
