Beach Sports
Beach sports encompass a vibrant and exhilarating array of physical activities that are enjoyed on the sandy shores of coastal destinations around the world. These sports capitalize on the unique environment of the beach, where the sun, sand, and surf combine to create a dynamic and invigorating setting for both participants and spectators.
The beach serves as a natural playground, inviting people of all ages and fitness levels to partake in various sports that range from leisurely to highly competitive. Whether played casually for enjoyment or professionally for championships, beach sports offer an exceptional blend of physical exertion, social interaction, and natural beauty.
As athletes engage in beach sports, the soft and shifting sand underfoot adds an additional layer of challenge, requiring enhanced balance, agility, and strength compared to their traditional counterparts. The soothing sounds of the ocean waves and the gentle caress of the sea breeze create a sensory-rich experience, enhancing the overall enjoyment and relaxation of participating in or watching these sports.
From the intense and strategic volleyball matches that require precise teamwork to the high-speed action of beach soccer and beach rugby, these sports encourage camaraderie, cooperation, and healthy competition among players. Watersports such as beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach rugby, beach tennis, and ultimate frisbee are just a few examples of team-based activities that thrive in this unique setting.
Individual beach sports are equally captivating, with activities like beach running, beach yoga, beach paddleball, and sandboarding offering individuals the chance to challenge themselves physically and mentally while immersing themselves in the natural beauty of the shoreline.
For those who prefer a mix of sport and relaxation, beach sports can seamlessly transition to leisurely activities like beach volleyball games with friends, frisbee tosses, or beachside yoga sessions. Families can gather for fun-filled beach days, where building sandcastles, playing beach cricket, or enjoying a game of beach badminton become cherished memories.
In the realm of professional beach sports, international competitions and tournaments draw in passionate spectators, showcasing the incredible athleticism and dedication of the athletes. The vibrant atmosphere of these events, often accompanied by music, food, and festivities, highlights the global appeal of beach sports and their ability to unite people from diverse backgrounds.
In essence, beach sports encompass a spectrum of physical activities that harness the allure of the seashore, blending sport, nature, and social engagement into a captivating and unforgettable experience for all involved. Whether for leisure or competition, these sports invite individuals and communities to embrace the sun, sand, and sea while fostering a sense of vitality and shared enjoyment.
FOAM OR PLASTIC: DISCOVER THE FRISBEE
Flying discs, Frisbee, plastic tray… It has different names, but remains best known as an essential beach game during the holidays. Yet all over the world professional Frisbee competitions take place. There is even a French flying disc federation in France.
Did you know ? The Frisbee isn't just a plastic circle with a curved edge the size of a dinner plate. It can also be made of foam, especially for beginner training and child safety.
Professionals in the discipline practice using different models of Frisbees, more or less large depending on whether they practice Ultimate or Beach Ultimate Frisbee, for example, or distance throwing.
SHORT, MEDIUM OR LONG DISTANCE: DIFFERENT TYPES OF FRISBEE
Flying discs, for distance Frisbee, no longer take the form of a plate, but of a ring with worked aerodynamics.
Each player has 5 tries to complete in a maximum time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, to succeed in throwing their Frisbee as far as possible. Currently, the world record for the discipline is 200 meters.
DECATHLON, SPORT AT ALL LEVELS
Ultimate Frisbee is practiced on a lawn or on the sand in the case of the Beach Ultimate Frisbee. On a space as big as a handball court, 2 teams of 7 players compete. Between them, circulates a Frisbee whose weight and circumference are carefully calculated.
If the adult frisbee model, as well as the competition model, weighs 175 grams, children's frisbees weigh only 90 grams, almost half as much.
So be reassured! To play and train as a family with children from 3 years old, go to Decathlon to discover all our foam Frisbees, without danger in the event of a collision.
