Technical Information

1
Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: laboratory- and field-tested, shoes with a breathable, waterproof membrane ensure you have optimum protection from the rain. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next half immersed in water, the shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
2
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
3
Waterproofing level
The women’s Forclaz 100 High waterproof shoe goes beyond the level of 4000 flexes level.

Purchasing tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, wearing hiking socks. Try on several styles and several sizes, if needed. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Wear your shoes in gradually during the first hikes, to mould them to your foot.
5
What shoe size do I choose?
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: keep your toenails short and before descending, check that your lacing will stop your foot from sliding towards the front of the shoe.
6
Field test
All our shoes are tested for comfort and use by representative users under conditions identical to those found when in use. Our Missions Tests link up the product manager with people who are not affiliated to Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
7
Laboratory test
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: torn eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated aging.

Sturdy shoes
Used for More than 1 year
Good shoes .. bought it for my 10 day spiti trip.. thankfully I invested in these shoes... After that i have used it like for 6 times for 2-3 day treks.. and they are totally comfortable till now.. it is always recommended to buy a half size bigger than the usual shoe size one wears..
One less stat for less cushioning..
When i bought it these were labeled as forclaz500 ,now it was written forclaz100?,just a query.
Cheerstonature!
Good grip and decently waterproof
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought these for a 10 day trip to Spiti Valley. The grip of the shoes was brilliant. It only gave me confidence in the loose rocky terrain. They also seem to be decently waterproof, however when it started raining, the top of the shoe began to feel slightly moist. But all in all, a great purchase.
Good but not waterproof
Have been using it for a year now. Good for 1 day hikes. Would have given a higher rating but they are not waterproof as they claim to be.

Did not like it much
Used for 1 week or less
I wore these shoes for a trek in Canyon valley,Lonavala but I wasn't satisfied with the grip that I got on dry as well as wet surfaces. The wet surface grip was so bad that I had to hold someone constantly and move, giving me less confidence in my shoes during the entire trek. Also I found the toe part of the shoe quiet broad due to which it was difficult to fit into small grooves/areas while climbing up. I found the base of the shoe too hard and less flexible. Instead I found my old sports shoes which have a softer sole to be giving a better grip and also of lesser weight which makes me more comfortable. So overall I am dissattisfied with the product
The grip
Defective cushioning on the inside

Used for 2 to 8 weeks
After using the shoe for approx. 4 hour trek, I had sore and scratched / bruised ankles. Wouldn't recommend this shoe highly. On comparison, I found that the same shoe for men's had much better cushioning.
Decent grip on snow
Cushioning above the ankles is defective

I am highly dissatisfied with the product. Too much weight and uncomfortable. Not at all good for trekking. If you can provide something else on behalf of this product, would be a kind gesture of yours.
Response of the brand
Hello Dimply,

Thank you for your feedback on the Forclaz 100 High Boots. I am sorry that the boots are not to your liking but I would like to find out more details on why the shoes are uncomfortable and why you feel they are not suitable for trekking.

At the same time if the boots are in a resaleable condition you could visit your nearest decathlon store and have them exchanged or refunded.

Great product
I recently bought this pair of shoes and I am loving it. Comfortable, balanced and lay par with their description. A great buy at a great price.
Too heavy and hurt my uncle
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
When I tried these shoes on the shop they felt very comfortable. I used them to commute every day for about 3 weeks before I started the hiking.
Unfortunately after my first day of hiking both shoes felt too tight and I could not lace them up any more as it was too uncomfortable. The left shoe was worse as it hurt my big toe nail (it got bruised) and my ankle got swollen.
The hike was only 5 days and I did about 5 hours each day.

Response of the brand
Hi, Sorry to hear about your experience with the Forclaz 100 hiking boot, I hope you still enjoyed your hike. Please drop back in store as I am sure we can find a more suitable boot for you. From personal experience, on mid to long distance multi-day hikes feet can swell by an extra size causing discomfort should the boot be slightly too small. It took me a while before I could determine whether this was the case or not however I now always go a half size larger for such expeditions. I hope this helps and thanks for your feedback, Chris.
