Technical Information

Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been shower-tested using 60 l of water/sqm/hour for 1 h. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower. The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied on the outer surface of the fabric. In addition, we sealed the main seams, most exposed to rain.
How to maintain the waterproofness of your jacket long-term
In order to retain the item’s sustained, long-term waterproof properties, the water repellency of the fabric will need to be reactivated: we recommend every 3 washes, or after a dozen uses in the rain. When washing, abundant rinsing is essential, then reactivating the water repellent properties can easily be done in hot water: or with your tumble dryer or hair dryer for example, for a short time. You will find all our tips in the maintenance manual of this product sheet.
Additional recommended products
Raincut over-trousers to also protect the lower body and in this way you’ll have a very effective complete outfit to protect against wind and showers.
Waterproof rating expressed in mm or Schmerber
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with an impermeability of 2000mm therefore resists a pressure exerted by 2000mm of water
Component breathability
To find out if a fabric is breathable, measure its evaporative resistance RET (test based on ISO 11092). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9
A score to compare the products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impacts are calculated over its whole lifecycle and with different indicators. A score ranging from A to E is attributed so that you can easily identify the products with a better environmental performance compared to products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks,...). Decathlon totally backs the environmental labelling approach. For further information:
