Additional recommended products
Forclaz Rain overtrousers for protecting the lower body to complete an effective rain protection outfit designed for mountain walks. Care products: waterproof spray or wash-in waterproof liquid, to restore the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise your garment's performance throughout its lifetime.
8
Component waterproofing
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the higher the fabric's waterproof rating. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hour).
9
Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been validated during the shower test under 100 l of water / sqm / hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
10
Component breathability
In addition to breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers designed for great hiking use (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow both temperature regulation inside the garment and help wick away perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
11
Component with coating or a membrane
The coating is like a layer of paint applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being more flexible, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than the coating.
12
Component 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is stuck between the outer and inner layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only stuck to the outer fabric, while the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane is protected on the inside by a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible
13
Water repellent property of the component
A fabric is water repellent when it makes water run off its surface without absorbing in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water-repellent effect is achieved by treating the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All the Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.

Thus far very good
Used for 7 to 12 months
Ideally I would have given this a 4.5 as it does have it faults but for the money it is very, very good.
The material is 2 layers I think and stretchy almost like one of those soft-shell-esque waterproof jackets that are currently en vogue.
I should say that I have had many waterproof jackets of various prices and materials over the years from Haglofs, Rab, Sprayway and Montane, North Face and Berghaus. Everything from eVent, Goretex, Pertex Shield Plus and own-brand laminates and ventile. The Rab eVent was good but being a pull-on is awkward (especially since putting on weight) and was dearer than this in a half-price sale whereas all the others failed at sometime or other - several on the first outing!
What I can say now after a good few uses and some not insignificant rain is that it is still beading and is comfortable to wear.
Pluses - performance, price, hood adjustments once used to it, comfort, weight (okay - not super light though).
Minuses - sleeves overlong and velcro tabs need to be used fully as cuffs too wide, not packable (not a real issue for me), hood peak maybe a tad too short, small choice of colours.
Overall I am really happy with this jacket so far. Most important for me is performance and value and this scores very highly in both regards.
The pit zips and okay, and I can live with the sleeve and cuff issue. It works better for me that jackets costing 2, 3 or even more times the price and seriously.... why would you bother paying more for a name?
It could have more features but that would probably result in a higher price so I am happy with it as is.
I should say that I haven't washed it yet and will avoid doing so as long as possible but so far, so good :)
Very Good Fit
Used for 1 week or less
Received this today promptly within 48 hours of ordering. Having had previous misgivings about buying online due to outdoors kit with big fat American sizes I referred to the Decathlon sizing chart which turns out to be correct. The drop tail and tailored cut is on the athletic side, with a 40" chest and 32" waist it fits perfectly with room for a fleece or similar underneath. Go up a size if you are more portly than my self. Features such as the pit vents, laser cut pockets and the helmet compatible hood are all top notch as is the stitching. Its possibly not as downpour proof as heavier Goretx jackets but no DWR coated breathable jacket is in my experience unless you want to spend a few hundred on a Gore paclite. You can get other jackets at this price point but nothing as usable or robust - it's excellent.

Nice Hiking and adventure sportsRange which never seen in Lucknow before decathlon
Okay if the rain isn't sustained
Used for 7 to 12 months
I've used this jacket a number of times in reasonably heavy rain when commuting to work. It's always seemed great. However, the rain has never been sustained. Longer than 20 mins or so. Today I used it in sustained heavy rainfall. The material itself is fine. However the zip leaked after about half an hour. So I ended up with a wet stripe right down the front of my clothing that would only have gotten worse had I not been able to get indoors. A bit disappointed based on the performance of the material.
Soaks water at places
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I have purchased this last week and used 3 times since, I have noted that the jacket sleeves and the back side of the hip area gets wet inside out in moderate rains... I use it while I ride a motorcycle.. I was told it is 100%water proof.. Besides that it is fine.. So not recommend for riders..
Not waterproof
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I used it in heavy n light rain thrice a times but the problem is where they gave mesh pockets to jackets the water licks from zip to that mesh n you get wet. It’s my advice to coat that mesh pockets with the same coated fabric which is given inside to avoid water, instead of mesh material inside of jacket
Response of the brand
Hi Sir,

Thank you for taking your time to provide us feedback, this helps us improve continuously.

I am sorry to hear our product did not meet your expectations. I can assure you the jacket is tested to protect  from rain and wind, the fabric is 10000 mm waterproof when tested in the water column. It is also a stretch fabric to enable more comfort for user.It has 2 hand pockets with waterproof zips, 1 outer breast pocket with a waterproof zip and 1 easy-access inner mesh pocket. All the zips are waterproof. We would request to elaborate the usage of the product which led to your bad experience.

Also I would recommend you to visit  the nearest Decathlon store and the store team would be able to inspect the product in detail, and would take a call for exchange or refund appropriately.

I stay available for any further queries related to our products and services.

Thanks
Ravi

Rain proof

Great buy
Solid jacket, great value!
Used for 3 to 6 months
Bought it as an urgent replacement for a far more expensive jacket that leaked through the fabric. Was pleasantly surprised with how well this jacket performs. Used it in very wet conditions and as a winter mountain shell in extreme wind chill. Fabric stretch is nice and the hood accommodates a helmet. Not incredibly light and the sleeves are quite long but these are minor gripes. Was going to bite the bullet on a GTX pro shell but might not bother now!
Incredible jacket
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
This is a 3 ply membrane jacket. That would be great but the fact that it's stretchy, perfectly cut and totally waterproof is bonkers. It's my go-to jacket for rainy hikes in North Wales now. Very impressed.
Big bang for little bucks
Used for 3 to 6 months
There's alot to like about this jacket, especially if your tall like me. Firstly its lovely and soft- you can happily wear it all day- Like a thick soft shell in fact. The breathability is superb when its not raining (more on that later) It's cut is long, the hood is great and the sleeves are perfect - if you have long arms...
The only negative is it wets out after an hour of heavy rain. And when it wets out like any other waterproof it gets damp inside. No waterproof works properly once the outer is overwhelmed and this happens to any waterproof relying on a dwr. which alas is most of them. You can spend £200 and this will happen or you can spend £59....
