Technical Information

1
Feather origin
We are committed to being responsible for our production, we have decided to work only with RDS certified suppliers (Responsible Down Standard Certified) that guarantee that the down and feathers used come from ducks and geese bread for their meat, and treated without cruelty. For more information: http://responsible down.org/ http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/documents-et-rapports/documents/
2
Fill Power of the down/feather filling
For this down jacket filled with 85% down/15% feathers, the fill power is guaranteed to be greater than or equal to 660 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. So, down with a higher fill power (high CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation.

4
The advantages of duck down and feather filling*
The down's long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra-lightweight: with equal warmth feather is lighter than synthetic wadding. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible

Care instructions for jackets filled with down and feathers
The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow the instructions by clicking the link below: http://www.quechua.com/wash-your-down-jacket
6
In the event of rain
The material of this padded jacket is water-repellent. It makes drops of water run off the fabric so it takes longer for water to get inside the jacket, giving you time to find shelter. But the down jacket is not waterproof. We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.
7
A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall rating from A to E is provided to help you easily identify the more eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers and backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. Product test
All our down jackets are laboratory tested in 5 km/h winds and worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use.

Useful in cold and windy weather in New Zealand
Used for 1 week or less
Very light and portable jacket with smart look. I have purchased it from India and brought into New Zealand. This well suits my purpose here. Highly recommended.

I lost my last one so purchased another one! It's nice and warm meaning most days I only need to wear a t-shirt underneath it!

This replaced a Decathlon jack that was weeping feathers and is spot on in every respect!
Not suitable for the mountains
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Purchased two weeks ago from your Braehead Store. Has been worn to the office and the jacket performs well on the journey into work (on a train).

However I went on a short 8km walk in the Kilsyth Hills, max altitude around 500m, temp 1.5C, wind 16mph ESE, dry and sunny. With the wind at my back there was a cold spot around my neck despite wearing a warm hat and trying to pull the hood of my fleece up to cover my neck, the jacket rode up my back on the uphill sections resulting in the base of my back being cold, the jacket is too short at the back.

Walking into the wind the jacket has a cold spot around the neck and the length of the front could also be longer for warmth, I was cold because of this.

I was glad I tested it in a short walk in winter conditions, I don't think it lives up to being 'Designed for The mountain trekker. Over a few days in cold weather.'

Suggested improvements, increase body lenght of jacket, add hood and it will be usable in the hills.
