Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or liquid water-repellent treatment in the washing machine. To restore the water repellent properties of the fabric and optimise the performance of the garment throughout its lifetime. We recommend using these products with each wash.
How the recommended temperature is measured
Ambient temperature is thermally neutral: the user feels neither hot nor cold. Use temperature, in accordance with standard ISO 11079, under the following conditions: Walking at 4 km/h, no wind, cloudy. Jacket worn together with: upper body: long-sleeved T-shirt + shirt + sleeveless down gilet / lower body: tights + fleece base layer + trousers / head: trapper hat + hood / hands: under-gloves + gloves / feet: ski socks + boots.
Waterproof component
A fabric's resistance to water pressure is measured by the height of a column of water that can be supported by the fabric in mm (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with 2000mm waterproofing therefore resists the pressure exercised by 2000mm of water (which corresponds to about a 2-hour rain shower).
Waterproofing of the garment
Technologies: this garment has been subjected to a shower test involving 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the resistance of the fabric, the more water vapour generated by body movements is allowed to escape and hence the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric/9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric/12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric/ RET > 20 = little or no breathability.
Component water resistance
A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water keeping it lightweight and warm. A fabric becomes water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every wash). Products are available for this purpose in our stores. All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.

Product test
To help you dress effectively, Quechua - in partnership with Stratermic and Oxylane Research - provides you with recommended usage temperatures for its "extreme cold" product lines. Tests are carried out in an environmental chamber to measure the thermal insulating properties of products on a dummy. These results are complemented by physiological research carried out by Oxylane Research teams to calculate the sensation of hot/cold as if in real world use.

Stockage tips
Store in a dry, ventilated place.

Maintenance tips
Avoid frequent washing. Wash at 30°C with a small amount of washing product. Do not use fabric softener. Place two tennis balls in the machine during the wash cycle to puff up the down. Rinse twice. Tumble drying recommended, synthetic programme with 2 tennis balls. Refresh water-repellency regularly using an appropriate treatment (after each wash). Amazing value for money
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
This is a seriously good parka; its extremely well made, is very warm (although I've not been in -30 yet!), has lots of great detail and features only found on top brand equivalents at 3x the price and also looks great. The Quechua branding is very subtle which I think personally adds to the impression of it being a higher value product. Well done Decathlon.
Nice jacket
Used for 7 to 12 months
This parka is such an amazing jacket , The warmth of this coat is very warm. I went for a walk up a cold mountain and it was great the fur was protecting my face from the frost and its a good quality. This jacket is good for walking / hiking
Fantastic value for great jacket
Used for 3 to 6 months
Had many down jackets from ME, NF, MH which were all a similar price but without the waterproof features. Very well made and water proof. Normally a medium but ordered a small and it is still very roomy. Too warm in the UK for any activity but perfect when you get off the mountain or watching kids play football in winter. Cannot fault it. I am sure it will provide many years of great service
Great product

Warm and waterproof
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Has been excellent so far- very warm, very waterproof. Went for a walk with my girlfriend the other day- she has a Canada Goose coat that cost aroun £800. She got soaked through in the rain and then got very cold. I was wearing this and was dry and warm throughout
QUECHUA Arpenaz 1000 RainDown X-Warm Men's Hiking
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought this for my partners birthday. Did a lot of research and chose this because of the fact it was down filled and waterproof. It was a immediate success for the inclement Scottish winter weather, kept him very warm and kept the rain out whilst looking very stylish. After wearing it or a week in Scotland it was then taken on a ski holiday in Switzerland and was actually fount to be too warm. This made him very damp with sweat which meant he was cold when we stopped for coffee/lunch till he dried out.
Looked good and was very warm
Too warm for a skiing holiday in Feb.

Inspiring horizon !!!!!
Great jacket but some small things overlooked
Used for 7 to 12 months
I live in Calgary it is often below -20 and some times - 30. Though I have never hung about in -30 temperatures This Jacket has kept me toasty all the time in Canada so far. It was my first winter wearing it. and I only used it for three months. Soi I cant tell you how it will be over a long time. The problem is the zips are have not broken but the fabric tabs are weak and break off quickly. The zips with the crap tabs are already fiddly when wearing gloves so without tabs its a real problem, as removing gloves is agony in these temperatures. The problem is easy to sort. other improvements would be a all the pockets should zip, and a snow skirt. But it really if a great JACKET all the same.
Warm and well built
The zips are not robust enough or large enough to
