Occasional mountain bike sport touring.
The first true touring mountain bike: comfortable thanks to a more upright seating position and front suspension, efficient thanks to a lightweight aluminium frame and Shimano 21 speeds.
I bought this bike on 3rd July. I am a regular customer at decathlon zirakpur and buy lot of gym accessories from there. However, to improve my cardio function, i decided to buy a bicycle and ended up with rockrider 340. Since then i have faced following problems:-
1. The gears started giving problems a month after i bought the bike. There is a massive problem while moving the left shifter from 2nd to 3rd level as i move from 5th to higher levels on the right shifter to up the speed. The gear does not shift smoothly, there are cracking sounds and i fear it may lead to chain damage and bike may break down at any moment.
2. I recently started getting this weird vibratory noise from pedal which comes each time the wheel completes one rotation. I am not an expert on this but there is definitely a problem there.
3. The service has also been disappointing. For my first free service, i dropped my bike at decathlon store around 11 am. I was told that the service guy comes around 12 pm and you can pick up the bike around 2 PM. I called the store around 5 PM and to my surprise the bike was not serviced even then. As i wanted the bike back in evening, they asked me to pick it up by an hour. I had already informed them about the gear problem. However, 2 weeks after the service, the gear shift problem is back. To add to my woes, a day after servicing, the front brake went loose, putting me at risk while riding. As an emergency measure, i took it to a bike store of another prominent brand and the kind mechanic over there fixed it. A fault in bike a day after service really raises doubt on the quality of service.
4. At the different bike store, i could notice that i could have bought similar bike in the same price range with additional features such as disk brakes. Not to mention, this bike store being in city limits and easily accessibly for a service rather than decathlon zirakpur, which is way out of chandigarh city.
Most importantly, i am facing these issues despite driving on neat and top notch quality roads in chandigarh (Vigyan path and Madhya marg). The bike has been only driven by me and never taken off road or for a rough ride.
DO NOT buy this bike !! If it gives issues to me on a smooth track, it will give issues to everyone. And for all those who have decathlon stores far away, its another reason not to buy as you can not take bike to store every other day for repair.
I would like to thank the Deacthlon Indirapuram team for their support and suggestions for my Btwin Rockrider 340 bicycle. The bicycle is really comfortable and smooth. Wishing you all the best for future.
i bought it from decathlon Ludhiana 2 days ago. saddle is too hard to sit on. and i found that rims are corroded. apart from it everything else is great about this product.
IT is an best bike for little money very nice bike
received the bicycle . the front wheel was missing the tightning key and the axel provided was shorter had to fix it from local shop. the bicycle is just perfect to use.
I just bought the Bike the day before and looking at beginning cycling on a regular basis. Am looking at mostly riding it on city roads and an occasional trail.
While the bike rides smoothly, I don't find the seat comfortable at all. Even after putting a cushioning seat cover. It's probably because the seat is too small. Is it possible to replace the seat with another Btwin seat which is wider and more comfortable?
really amazing bike . really good for occasional off-roading . great use as a city bike too . great control . shifting is a bit sloppy and why does the 3 speed grip-shifter have 7 parts? . due to this the front chain guard has worn out in 6 weeks
Thank you for taking the time to give us your review. The FD has a series of shifting because the shift required to derail the chain is high compared to the rear derailleur. Since the gap is high between shifts there has to be a series of shifts for the transition to happen. I remain available for more questions.

I got to work everyday on rockrider 340 and it gives a super satisfying super smooth experience on road. Everything is right about this machine except for few things I've noticed. The left side shifter is a little misaligned. I have to shift it to around 2.5 to actually get 2. To get to 3, I have to spin it all the way to 3 and twist it beyond 3 (the spring reacts to it. If we release, it comes back to 3) and keep it there while giving a gradual pedaling. If I pedal a bit faster, and it won't go to 3. Second problem I've noticed, when I go through rough terrain and I'm sitting on the saddle, it makes a slight shearing noise. Am I not supposed to sit when the rear wheel is on irregular terrain?
Thank you for the comprehensive and detailed review of the bike. With regards to the sound that is being created in undulating surfaces, it is possible that the seat post is not clamped firmly. It is also possible that there is a problem with the saddle clamp. I suggest you visit our workshop to have the problem addressed to be our technition.
It is not required to stand on irregular surfaces, you can remain seated. Sometimes cyclists tend to stand on very irregular surfaces to avoid vibration.

Really good and value for money bike
I had modified it by putting 26 × 2.00 "btwin all terrain tyres
And lights and a frame bag due to club
But the bike is really good
The gear shifting is slightly poor and after 6-7 months the gears slip a lot good V brakes but saddue was quite hard
I chose Decathlon because I heard that their service is good and their employees respond properly to the customer's complaints (instead of giving looks sour enough to curdle milk). I was not disappointed.
The cycle is sturdy enough to take the brunt of badass commuting as well as beginner trails (pushing it further is not a good idea).
The brakes are fine, but Bangalore weather can make the wheel squeal, like one of those annoying/spoilt kids on a night train, on certain occasions (this is rubber brake pads against wet aluminium rims). Nothing that a good wipe can't solve.
The shifters are smooth enough for a noob like me to get used to. And anyone with half a brain can learn how (and when) to shift gears in a week or so, until then go easy on those shifters cowboy. After a point shifting will barely produce any noise and you'll know that the gear has changed only from the resistance through the pedals!
The geometry of the bike can be a bit hard. Don't hesitate to experiment with various saddle/handlebar heights. And get get the correct frame size!
The tires also seem to be fine. Have't had a puncture till now (touch wood!).
The saddle is hard as CBSE 12th mathematics paper. Get used to it or get yourself one of those gel saddles and/or padded shorts.
If you are just getting into mountain biking and you happen to be one of those perennially broke folks, this cycle is the best choice for you. Hang on to this until you've saved up enough to get a better bike. Until then, Decathlon's service folks will take care of it for you.
