"Short blade" fins: ensure a good kicking frequency and maintain a higher heart rate. Motion is very close to the "natural" movement.
VERY SOFT FINS
Stiffness is characterised by the density of matter, so the more rigid a blade is, the greater muscular exertion will be, the softer a blade is, the more efficient and sweeping the kick will be. It is the resistance of the blade that will generate the type of exercise desired (cardiovascular or muscular exertion)
FULL FOOT FINS
The foot pocket of a fin holds the foot in place when kicking (important for an efficient kick) so take the time to try on the fins before buying. It is important to check that the foot fits well in the foot pocket and the uncovered area (to prevent water from entering). It is important to choose the right size.
There are 2 types of foot pockets: full foot and open heel.
