Technical Information

Footwear waterproofing test.
Tested in laboratory and in use, these shoes, equipped with a Waterproof membrane, will ensure optimal impermeability and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, they are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing.
In the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approx. 4 km walk), 4000 flexions (approx. 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approx. 16 km walk). Of course, after this test, and during use, the shoe regains its original water resistance once dry.
Footwear waterproofing rating.
The TREK 500 shoe has been tested and validated for 8000 flexions, equivalent to a 16 km walk, in water reaching the middle of the upper.
Laboratory tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - secure attachment of eyelets and hooks - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated ageing.
Care instructions
Use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air dry away from a heat source. Finish with a nourishing cream to keep the leather nice and flexible and prolong the lifespan of the shoe.
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the heel seating and the front of the foot on a downward slope. To avoid any pressure points when fitting. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

Awesome boots, nothing like them at this price!
Used for 7 to 12 months
I bought these boots less than a year ago and they have been fantastic. Comfy from the first wear, breaking in not required. Fully waterproof. I took care of them at the start, used nikwax aqueous wax etc but have not done so for the last 6 months and they look beautifully weathered but NO leaking whatsoever, fully waterproof. They could do with a new pair of laces though! I wear them daily walking the dog and also hike frequently in the Mourne Mountains which are granite and harsh and they have stood up to it all. HOWEVER, the fab grippy sole is now totally worn down and now grippy in mud so I am going to get a new pair. If you work out the cost per wear they are well worth it and look a lot better than other boots at double the price. My last pair of boots, meindl Burma pro were as comfy but MUCH heavier and the sole fell off after 3 years! I will keep buying these, the only sacrifice is the sole wear. If you were in only softer muddy terrain and not so much paths and asphalt they would last a long time. Well done decathlon.

A very good pair of boots.

Excellent boots at a very reasonable price.
Waterproof and hardy indeed

I wanted shoes that would be waterproof, and these shoes held on through days of rough motor biking and high-altitude climbing. I had even the misfortune of being caught in a snowstorm at 5000 + m in the night, and these shoes definitely saved me. The only noted disadvantage is the small front end. I had to have soles changed and live through blisters before I could truly enjoy this pair. Also, I had to buy a small size in men's. Why is the women's not available easily? :-/
As always, very satisfying

I used this shoe for my recent stok kangri expedition and the shoe met my expectation. The shoe is little heavy as compare to other brands, but that add on to the durabiltiy. The shoe worked well in the Boulder section and also in the loose scree/moraine. The grip of the shoe is also good. Initially the shoe feels less flexible but once it is breaked atleast 10 days prior you will feel it as a part of your body.

Used for 3 to 6 months
The water proofing of shoe is quite good but when it comes to a rocky section the shoe grip is not up to the mark and if you are not walking with extra caution you have a high chance of slipping down.
Value for money, functional
Used for 3 to 6 months
A great product, my Everest base camp trek is at the end of the month so the real review would get updated sometime in October once the boots go to 17500 feet and back
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
In less than a month the outer shell started chipping away. Bad Quality. Bad Product. Really bad service from the employees.
Response of the brand
Hello Sagar,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Trekking Shoes with us. We are sorry to hear about the unpleasant experience you have had with us.
Leather shoe cracks could happen due to aging which depends on the storage and maintenance, or it could also have happened due to a manufacturing error from our end. It is not normal for this to happen within a span of just 3 months. I would advise you to bring the shoes to any of our stores so that our team could understand this better and assist you accordingly.

Hope to see you soon in our store. I remain available for any further queries :)

Golf ball sized blisters

My husband bought these to do a 32 mile charity walk and his feet were shredded by the end of it. He bought a size larger as recommended in store and wore gel insoles but said there was no cushioning around the heel and sole and even walking them in for 3 weeks before hand didn't break them in as the material is so tough. He has an even bigger walk to do at the end of the month and putting these shoes on is filling him with dread. Not what we expected for a £70 pair of boots.
