Technical Information

1
Footwear waterproofing test.
Tested in laboratory and in use, these shoes, equipped with a Waterproof membrane, will ensure optimal impermeability and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
2
3 levels of waterproofing.
In our waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approximately 4 km walk) 4000 flexions (approximately 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approximately 16 km walk). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
3
Shoe waterproofing level.
The TREK 500 hoe is validated on the impermeability test in 8000 flexions or 16 km walk in water up to mid-upper.
4
Lab tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - torn hooks and eyelets - bonding of the sole - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and of the components of the upper - accelerated aging.
5
Care instructions
Use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air dry away from a heat source. Finish with a nourishing cream to keep good leather flexibility and extend the lifespan of the shoe.

Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.

our trekker users, through user reviews, participate in the development and the continuous improvement of our hiking shoes.

Product test
All our shoes undergo use and comfort tests carried out by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team the product manager up with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve and validate our products.

Stockage tips
Store in a dark, dry and well-ventilated place.

Maintenance tips
Use the brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. It's not a problem as such, but could change the aesthetics of the shoe.

Faulty Product
Used for 1 week or less
Extremely faulty product. Water seeped in from everywhere - we bought two pairs and were forced to exchange them. Even the store manager at Decathalon was surprised to see the state of the shoes - and this state was only after 1 day in rain.

Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I walk my German Shepherd dogs on the surrounding hills for 3 to 5 Miles everyday and I have spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds over the years on waterproof boots, from top brand names to the less well known. To-date there is not one brand that In my experience has met the criteria of being “waterproof and breathable.”
These boots have a robust feel, the eyelets are functional and the leather is firm without being too hard. I am a little concerned that the soles are quite rigid and might not provide much grip on stone. The first wear was for a gentle 3 miles and no blisters. Time will tell whether these will be the boots to end my search.
Beware of corroding eyelets!
Used for 3 to 6 months
I'm a seasoned hiker and bought these as I like the brand, these would be my second pair but a different style. My first lasted me 10 years before finally having to be replaced due to the sole being warm out because of the mileage covered.

This pair I believed would do just as well, that's until a month or after purchase the eyelets started to discolour. I thought no more about it. Then the plating started to come off and the metal rusted. This is with only being caught in light showers during the summer months, so no real test of harsh weather conditions. So now the lower 4 rows are rusted and quite abrasive, in turn frying the laces.
Returns policy submitted (212131), but told I have to send them back in original box! I didn't expect them to fail, so no original packaging!

Response of the brand
Thanks for your feedback on the Trek 500 hiking shoes and we regret to hear that you have not been completely satisfied with the footwear. We strive to provide the best products and I shall be sure to pass this feedback on to the product manager as we haven’t received such information on the eyelets before. Regarding the return, our footwear is not sold in specific shoe boxes so you should have no problem in sending back or if more convenient, dropping into a local store to return.

Comfortable and waterproof. Used for two weeks walking in the Scottish highlands. Brought for my husband.
Comfortable, classic look . Lasted 9 hard months
Used for 7 to 12 months
Bought these in July last year. They took me on a 22km rugged clime with a pack in Norway in the first week. No problems. I hike about 10-30 km a week year round, more in summer. No blisters, never wet, great traction, warm but not horrible in hot weather. I took them about 25km in a day at Petra in 35°C. Yesterday however, one of the riveted lace loops pulled out of the leather while I was tieing them in the airport... but hey... for
