Technical Information

1
Footwear waterproofing test.
These boots, which have been laboratory and field tested, are equipped with a waterproof membrane that provides optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
2
3 levels of waterproofing.
In our waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approximately 4 km walk) 4000 flexions (approximately 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approximately 16 km walk). Naturally, when the product has dried after this test or in use, it regains its original waterproofing.
3
Footwear waterproof rating.
The TREK 500 boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. 16 km of walking in water up to the middle of the upper.
4
Lab tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - attachment of eyelets and webbing - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated ageing.
5
Care instructions
Use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air dry away from a heat source. Finish with a nourishing cream to keep the leather nice and flexible and prolong the lifetime of the boot.
6
Buying tips
Try on both boots, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following two comfort points: the base of the heel and the forefoot when going downhill. You should not feel any pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

Buying this shoes was a wrong decision I made. I was assured that this shoes is perfect for all kind of treks and is anti-slip especially on rocks. And also is 100% waterproof.

One the first day itself I slipped on rock terrain path and when i was crossing certain rivers there where leakages on the toe part. So again I would say paying 7000Rs for this shoes is not worth.

Good quality product as expected from decathlon. Shoes are very durable. The sole of the shoes is hard enough for tracking. Only thing I don't like is the weight, shoes are little bit bulky for trekking purpose. If you can make this shoe light weight, then I personally believe these shoes will get prebooked before they come to the store

Just taken delivery of my 2nd pair of these boots, due to wearing out previous ones. Over about a 15 year period I've tried sooo many different manufactures of boots, ranging from expensive to entry level. Leather and fabric all of which have failed miserably, they all split on the crease across the top of the toes. This boot didn't. just the tread has worn away making them not suitable for hill walking. The boots lasted me over 2 years and in the region of 2,500 walking miles over rugged terrain + beach and salt water. Think I only treated them a couple of times to a wash/polish/water repelant and still waterproof. Really comfy and light weight these boots are the real deal and at an amazing price, lets hope the 2nd pair live up to pair 1.
Horrible Shoes - Stay Away
Used for 7 to 12 months
5 years back I had purchased Forclaz 500. Awesome shoes and they had Vibram sole. I used it for 4 years and the sole's gum came off the left shoe. No complains, it lived its life. The vibram sole had made all the difference. Excellent traction and it was truly waterproof. Now, coming to Forclaz 600, I had high hopes to replace my 500. But this time, there is no viram sole!! Plus after buying it, in 6 months of normal use, the sole shows huge signs of wearing off. Also, on one of the rainy day, i could feel my thumb wet. I am extremely disappointed and will discontinue to buy this shoe. In 8 months of usage, this shoe shows worse sign than than my previous 500 which came for 4 years.
Response of the brand
Hello Rohit,

Thank you for giving your feedback on the Forclaz 600 Shoes. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the shoes. Vibram sole is quite expensive and it can increase the price of the product marginally due to which most of our users wouldn't be able to afford it. That's why we have worked on this sole which gives good grip on the wet and dry surface. But the sole will wear-off if it's regular use. Also, it allowed us to focus on the durability of the entire shoes. We have our top-end model available in the country with Vibram sole. Trek 700

Please visit any of our stores to have it exchanged if you are not happy with the product.

So far so good , I’ve worn them a lot during the bad weather of late , they are comfortable, weather proof highly recommended
It is not good for long hiking
Used for 7 to 12 months
I went to Brahmagiri in Coorg with this shoe, waterproof is good, grip is good, but CUSHIONING is very very bad, it was just 29km trek and I ended up with blisters, knee pain, my running shoe was very comfortable in my previous trekking in kumaraparvatha, the PU midsole' is very hard it didn't help even after wearing gel insole, this shoe is not for trekking, don't buy.
Response of the brand
Hello Subbrammanya,

Thanks for your time to review the Trek 500 shoes by Quechua. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

To give you a small insight on this product and the reason that could be possible for the issue you face, the Trek 500 has a midsole added with an extra shank on it which reduces the feel of your feet on the ground and hence you feel its lesser cushioning, This is done to increase the durability of this shoe on longer treks and not to lose out the property of cushioning in the longer run. In case your usage requires you to have the roll of foot feel, I request you kindly to check out the Trek 100 shoe which gives a feel of better cushioning and is for less intense usage compared to the other and is durable also on this kind of usage. Personally, I use the Trek 100 shoe as I require the same feature you have mentioned.

Very comfortable however not waterproof
Used for More than 1 year
I have owned these boots for almost 18 months and I must say they are very comfortable. However this weekend I went up Mount Snowden only to find the rain had penetrated the boot, so I was walking with wet feet in snow conditions, not a pleasant experience. Having double checked the specs of the boot, it confirms it is waterproof and comes with a 2 year guarantee. However as I've owned the boots for 18 months now I do not have the receipt. Having called the store where I purchased the boots from, they advised without the receipt they were not willing to do anything. I offered to show proof of purchase via a bank statement of which they reiterated without the receipt nothing would happen. Very disappointed with the quality of the boot and now the customer service. I'm due to go to Iceland tomorrow and now in a position where I have to buy another pair of boots. Prior to this weekends experience these boots would have scored a 5* rating.

i used this on a trek to Goechala in October and extremely dissatisfied with the shoes. it is very hard on your foot sole with very little flexibility. The sole molding is also coming off in some places and i wouldn't take this for another trek
