Technical Information

Footwear waterproofing test
These boots, which have been laboratory and field tested, are equipped with a waterproof membrane that provides optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
In our waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approximately 4 km walk) 4000 flexions (approximately 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approximately 16 km walk). Naturally, when the product has dried after this test or in use, it regains its original waterproofing.
Footwear waterproof rating
The TREK 700 boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. 16 km of walking in water up to the middle of the upper.
Laboratory tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - attachment of eyelets and webbing - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated ageing.
Care instructions
Use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air dry away from a heat source. Finish by spraying the upper with a waterproof spray to maintain the water repellent properties and prolong the lifetime of the shoe.
Buying tips
Try on both boots, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following two comfort points: the base of the heel (the heel should barely lift up, if at all) and the forefoot when going downhill (the toes should not touch the front of the boot). You should not feel any pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

Used for 3 to 6 months
After much research on Hiking shoes for a Ladak & Kashmir trek which lasted 2 months very disappointed. These boots are heavy, not completely waterproof & started giving me ankle & calf mussel pain. I'm the past I have owned treking boots from Berghaus, Gamont & Kalyan they are much cheaper & more research has gone into producing a quality hiking boots that can also be used around the city.
Overpriced, Uncomfortable & not recommend for M &
Used for 3 to 6 months
These Forclaz 700 Hiking boots/ shoes have a flat feel to them and are limited to accommodate only narrow feet, folk with wider feet will struggle. Overpriced. For a hiking boot Collector worth $70 to $80 tops & not more than 5000 Rupees for the Indian & Nepal market.
Excellent boots, superior quality and fit

Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Though I have only had these boots for three weeks I have worn them every day in wet and arduous terrain. They are lightweight and robust with great ankle support and grip.
The lace locking capability at the ankle is very useful when adjusting for fit and the velcro support strap ensures security around the foot. They are a little inflexible at first, but took only a couple of days to become very flexible. The sizing does come a little small - I am usually a 6UK and needed a 6.5UK.
