These boots are definitely not waterproof and are over priced for what they offer. Armature and not for professional treks or climbs. On the heavier side my ankles hurt.

Generally Decathlon products used to be good but there's days there is quality drop since its all coming in from China. These boots are very hard to break in & the soles are stiff quite uncomfortable. I've used some of the top brands of hiking & trekking boots these are costly for what it brings to the table

Having booked a holiday in Ireland I needed some tough waterproof boots, as I had split the sole on my old pair.
I have previously brought Decathlon’s excellent cycling clothing I was expecting a similar level of value for money and performance. In the shop I was immediately impressed by the look and fit of these boots. They felt like an extension of my body, a bit like growing hooves. I felt like I would be able to negotiate rough terrain like a goat.
I broke them in carefully over a long period. I wore them for work and twice walked the 4 miles home.
My holiday involved daily walks of about 15 miles through some rough terrain. I found that contrary to my initial expectations the boots felt too heavy and too inflexible. After a couple of days, I developed painful blisters on the back of both feet.
The fourth day of the Holiday was wet. I very surprised to find that after a couple of hours my feet were starting to feel wet. By the end of the day my feet were soaked. My friends with lighter boots also had wet feet, but not as wet as mine. In contrast to mine, their boots dried overnight, whilst I had to soldier on with wet boots until the end of the week.
I returned the damp, muddy boots to Decathlon the following weekend, and was surprised but very pleased to be given a no questions asked, full refund.
Used this pair of shoes for trekking and mountaineering activities in leh ladakh region recently. And I am very satisfied after witnessing the results and effectiveness of this product.
Not quite what I expected of a pair of Treking boots from France. International treckers & climbers with some experience will not recommend. Also not properly watetproof
I have used it for trekking at Mount Everest base camp and find this product terrifically good and well to tackle every condition, i.e., ranging from walking in snow and in heavy rain to walking on uneven surfaces of mountains.
I am very thankful of Decathlon as they have encarved such a masterpiece for trekking lovers. Afte buying this pair shoes I feel very happy and delighted.
Must to have product for all trekking enthusiasts.
On the pricey side and not sturdy & not completely waterproof
Hello Oliz Kristen,Thank you for taking the time to give us your opinion on Trek 700 boots by Forclaz.
I am sincerely sorry that the shoe did not meet your expectations for the trek. We designed this shoe to meet the needs of demanding trekkers, for users mostly on rough and technical trails. So the major value we focused on is the stiffness of the shoe and durability of the material used. The shoe has protection all around the circumference of the shoe to protect from the terrain outside, the Velcro strap across the ankle to be precise on every step you keep on the mountain. The outsole is 100% rubber VIBRAM, to ensure a good grip. In terms of the waterproofing, it is tested for 16 Km of walking in water till the mid of the upper. A small recommendation I have here is to use the shoe with a gaiter to avoid water seeping in from the top of the shoe when there is a rain or high water level. We have tested this shoe with external users on the field, on the mountains of Latin America to ensure that our value promise is passed to our users. Having said this, at Decathlon, all our products have improved from its conception based on the feedback from our beloved users. If you could let me know the trek you used this for and a little more on the water seepage from, it would mean a lot to us, to see what really caused the issue and for us to provide you the best possible solution.
I invite you kindly to visit any Decathlon store closer to you to make the exchange or refund your pair of shoes Trek 700, and thus be able to enjoy another pair of trekking shoes better meet your expectations.I hope that despite this mishap, you will continue to give us your trust. Sportively,Sandeep NAIR,Passionate Trekker.
