Made for Our team has designed these shoes with a hybrid sole for your first mountain bike tours lasting up to 1½ hours. Are you looking for mountain bike shoes for riding... and walking? With their hybrid sole, the ST 100 mountain bike shoes give you grip when pedalling and a natural foot motion as you walk.
Sometimes the terrain will force you to push or carry your mountain bike. We've therefore come up with a hybrid sole inspired by trail running (for grip on the ground) and mountain biking (for grip on the pedals) to keep you comfortable and supported whether walking or cycling.
Its heel stiffener and flex grooves keep you comfortable when walking. And its multidirectional lugs drain water and mud whether going uphill or downhill, walking or cycling
UPPER AND TONGUE DESIGNED FOR COMFORT
Why should a pair of mountain bike shoes be less comfortable than a pair of trainers?
As well as the stretchy fabric and special shape on the inside, it has a 3D mesh top, sides and tongue. The fabric is great at wicking perspiration and being comfortable. The heel is lined with foam.
The ROCKRIDER team has made a design choice to put comfort at the heart of its tests and decisions, with no compromises.
The team has decided to add a small, elasticated tongue to the middle of the laces so that you can keep them tidy and stop them touching the bike's chain. Smart, eh?
THE TOE BOX
The ST 100 have a reinforced toe box: a blend of PU and PES placed in areas that are likely to be struck by stones or bash against rocks.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE
Thanks to our size guide (above, next to choosing your size), you can choose your shoe size based on the length and width of your foot.
For slightly wider feet, consider getting one size bigger than normal.
WHAT ABOUT CLEATS? FIND OUT MORE
When you start mountain biking, clipless pedals aren't necessarily your priority. This is why these shoes grip the pedals well, even without cleats. And if you want to take the plunge, the sole has a rigid section for fixing cleats without having to adjust everything!
Easily fix your SPD cleats with just two holes (normally it's four) and a positioning guide marked on the sole.
WHICH PEDALS ARE COMPATIBLE?
Which cleats and/or pedals can you use with these shoes?
For the best fit, use the following models:
-BTWIN SPD HALF CLIPLESS 500
-BTWIN SPD CLIPLESS 100
-BTWIN SPD CLIPLESS 520
-SHIMANO SPD HALF CLIPLESS M324
-SHIMANO SPD CLIPLESS M520
-SHIMANO SPD CLIPLESS XT-M780
Compatibility with ENDURO / FREERIDE clipless platform pedals is not guaranteed (e.g. BTWIN SPD CLIPLESS 540 CAGE, SHIMANO SPD CLIPLESS ENDURO XT-M8020, SHIMANO SPD CLIPLESS M424). For these pedals, you will need to try them first.
THE STORY BEHIND THE ST 100 SHOES
Here's something we noticed: when you start mountain biking, you spend some time on your bike but some next to it.
To give you a shoe that is equally comfortable for walking and cycling, our four-person team spent two years designing, prototyping, and performing lab and field tests with 50 different people.
The result is a shoe that gives you grip when walking and when riding on mountain bike trails.
OUR TEAM'S ADVICE
We'll leave you with a few tips from our mountain bike design team:
"Even without cleats, these shoes grip the pedal well so you can push off without worrying about slipping and having the pedal whack you in the shin. It's also a chance to try out cleats without breaking the bank. To avoid any nasty falls, tuck the loops of your laces under the elastic band in the middle of the foot!"
Our engineers have all of our products tested by mountain bikers in real conditions. These tests complement the tests we do in the lab and mean that we can approve our products before they go on sale.
