A completed skateboard is more than simply a deck on wheels; it's made up of a variety of components, each with its own design and function.

Deck- A skateboarder stands on a deck, which is aboard. Skateboard decks are typically comprised of seven or nine layers of laminated and shaped birch or maple wood. Bearings- Bearings are circular metal discs that go inside skateboard wheels and connect them to the axle. The discs' inner and outer sections ride on inside balls, which allows the wheels to turn.

Hardware- The nuts, bolts, and screws that hold trucks to the board are known as skateboard hardware. The axle nuts, which keep the wheels fastened to your skateboard, are held in place by the hanger.

Risers- Skateboard risers are hard plastic pads that go between the trucks and the deck of the skateboard to raise the overall height and prevent wheel bite. Riser pads come in a variety of sizes and are required when using larger wheels to ensure adequate clearance.

Shock pads- Shock pads are rectangle-shaped washers that you place between your skateboard's deck and trucks. Shock pads are similar to risers, but the hardware is more pliable and rubbery, allowing for better shock absorption.

LONGBOARD WHEEL DIAMETER

When it comes to longboard wheels, the first decision you must make is what size you want. The majority of longboard wheels are 64-80mm in diameter, with 70mm being the most popular. The most critical factor to consider is if the wheels will fit without generating wheel bite on your setup. (TIP: Any park deck can be transformed into a terrific city cruiser with a set of 65mm longboard wheels and a 1/4" riser pad.)

SMALL WHEEL DIAMETER

Smaller wheels will fit in more setups and accelerate faster, but their top speed will be lower than their larger counterparts. If you place them on a park or cruiser deck, you'll only need a few smaller riser pads, if any at all, which keeps your deck lower to the ground and gives you more pop when you ollie.

LARGE WHEEL DIAMETER

Larger wheels accelerate slower but have a higher top speed and can roll over cracks and debris more easily. You should be able to fit any size wheel if your deck has large cutouts. If your board lacks cutouts, you may need to add a 14" or more riser pad to support wheels larger than 65mm.

WHEEL CONTACT PATCH FOR LONGBOARDS

The contact patch is the part of the wheel that touches the ground when it rolls. A wheel with a broader contact patch has more grip and is often favored for downhill, whereas a wheel with a smaller contact patch has less grip and is generally preferred for freeriding

WIDE WHEELS

A wheel with a bigger contact patch has more traction and is therefore ideal for downhill riding. A broader contact patch will slow you down faster and give you more control while sliding.

NARROW WHEELS

The wheel has less grip with a narrower contact patch, which is suited for freeriding. Narrower wheels are easier to start slides on and maintain speed throughout the slide.

STONE GROUND WHEELS

Stone-ground contact patches are quite popular for freeride wheels, and they are highly recommended for novices who wish to learn how to slide.

· SQUARE LIP LONGBOARD WHEELS

Wheels with sharp or thick square edges are more gripping. Square lip wheels are commonly used in downhill skating because they assist you to maintain your grip in tight curves.

· ROUND LIP LONGBOARD WHEELS

We advocate rounded edges for freeriding and stand-up sliding because they allow wheels to release traction more readily and offer smoother transitions into slides. They're also perfect for cruiser setups because they're usually lighter and make it easier to power slide when needed

· LONGBOARD WHEEL HARDNESS (DUROMETER)

Durometer ratings on the Shore A scale are used to determine the hardness of longboard wheels. Longboard wheels have a durometer of 75-88a, which is gentle in comparison to skateboard wheels, which have a durometer of 95-101a. Longboard wheels with a lower durometer have more grip but roll slower, whereas those with a higher durometer have less grip but roll quicker.

· SOFTER LONGBOARD WHEELS

Softer wheels (75-80a) slow you down faster and smear across the road surface.

· HARDER LONGBOARD WHEELS

The durometer has an impact on sliding qualities as well. Harder wheels (83-88a) are less likely to slow you down and have a tendency to glide across the road's surface. This increases their durability and makes them an excellent choice for cycling at slower speeds.
