WHEEL CONTACT PATCH FOR LONGBOARDS
The contact patch is the part of the wheel that touches the ground when it rolls. A wheel with a broader contact patch has more grip and is often favored for downhill, whereas a wheel with a smaller contact patch has less grip and is generally preferred for freeriding
WIDE WHEELS
A wheel with a bigger contact patch has more traction and is therefore ideal for downhill riding. A broader contact patch will slow you down faster and give you more control while sliding.
NARROW WHEELS
The wheel has less grip with a narrower contact patch, which is suited for freeriding. Narrower wheels are easier to start slides on and maintain speed throughout the slide.

Longboard wheels with a lower durometer have more grip but roll slower, whereas those with a higher durometer have less grip but roll quicker.
· SOFTER LONGBOARD WHEELS
Softer wheels (75-80a) slow you down faster and smear across the road surface.
· HARDER LONGBOARD WHEELS
The durometer has an impact on sliding qualities as well. Harder wheels (83-88a) are less likely to slow you down and have a tendency to glide across the road's surface. This increases their durability and makes them an excellent choice for cycling at slower speeds.
